There is only so much pie to go around, right? With that thought, you would be thinking that we are bound to limits. This are certainly the case for many people, but are these actually external limitations or are they internal limitations? Have you ever thought that there is more than one pie?
Take a look at this glass and tell me what you see. If you see it half empty, you have a lack mentality. If you see it as half full, you have an abundance mentality. In the end, living in abundance will add more value to your life.

So what exactly does it mean to live in abundance?
Living in abundance is seeing the richness of life and understanding that there is enough pie to go around. One’s persons gains does not mean less opportunity for you, nor is it a threat. When you live in abundance, you are secure in yourself and your ability to attract great things into your life.
Having a scarcity mindset affects how you perceive and react to things in your life. If you believe that you will not get wealth, a good relationship, — in your life, you start to exude stinginess, clinginess, and desperation. Your mindset becomes closed and you are more likely to miss other great opportunities coming your way.
How to Live in Abundance
Are you ready for it?
Become aware of your thoughts
Awareness is the first to key step to any change. Start to have an awareness about how you think about things in your life. Acknowledge when your thoughts are of a scarcity mindset, but don’t reprimand yourself. Note the thought and try to think the reverse.
When you catch yourself being clingy to the new person you are dating, acknowledge that you are thinking of your relationship from a place of lack. When you do this, you give of desperate and insecure energy. Instead reframe your thoughts of worry that you will never meet an amazing person like they one you are with now, to enjoying their presence, but knowing there are other people you can connect with IF this relationship were not to work out.
As you become more aware of your thoughts, you can train your brain to see the abundant view. Don’t be afraid to ask yourself “is this true?”.
I will never get better – Do I know this is 100% true?
Nobody likes me – Do I know this is 100% true?
I won’t succeed because there are so many others to compete with – Do I know this is 100% true?
Practice gratitude
If you don’t appreciate what you currently have, you will never be able to appreciate what it is you seek in the future. Be grateful for what you have today.
Your life is full of abundance right now. Look around you. Appreciate that you have the privilege to have a device and internet that allows you to connect with people all over the world. Be grateful for the possessions you currently own, the freedoms you have, your health, and the beauty of the planet that we all live on.
There are infinite things to be grateful for. Start by appreciating where you are at now.
Be open to possibilities and new opportunities
Studies have shown that those who believed they were lucky, were better prepared to spot opportunities than those who believe they were unlucky.
Take for example this one study done at the University of Hertfordshire. The experiment asked participants first if they thought of themselves as lucky or unlucky. They then asked them to leaf through a newspaper and count the number of photos in the newspaper. Those who thought they were unlucky finished in about 2 minutes, while those who thought they were lucky finished in a matter of seconds.
What the lucky group saw on page 2, was a huge half page spread that said “Stop counting. There are 43 photographs in this newspaper.” It was right in front of their face, but most unlucky people tended to miss it.
When you believe you are in a better position, you more are more relaxed and prepared for the opportunities that present themselves.
Focus on abundance, not lack
What you focus on, you get. If you want abundance of health, wealth, positive relationships, and positive emotions in your life, you must focus on the abundance you have.
Notice when you are complaining or in feelings of lack. What you focus on perpetuates.
Have a growth mindset
A growth mindset is the belief that you have the ability to learn, create, and develop yourself through hard work and dedication. Your innate and current abilities are just your starting point.
Think of all that you will be able to achieve by embracing challenges, persisting against setbacks, seeking a path to mastery.
When you encounter obstacles, a growth mindset will allow you to learn from criticism and find the silver lining of hard moments.
Give out the energy you would like to receive
Are you craving love, affection, attention? Give out to others that in which you wish you receive. This has worked for me over the years when I noticed that friends or family were not “treating” me the way I wanted to be treated. I either felt like they didn’t praise the work I was showing them, or initiated as much of a connection. What I started doing was initiating with them.
What comes around goes around. Sometimes people need that energy in their life to give it back. When you start being kind to someone, its hard for them not to be kind back. Your vibrations are like ripples in water.
Just try this out – If you don’t smile at the person ringing you up at the cash register, your experience will be what you give to them. If you approach them with a smile and openness, its amazing how they will mirror this energy back to you. Be the starting point.
Spend time with those who have an abundance mindset
You know this saying already – “You are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with” – Jim Rohn
If you are around complainers all the time, it sounds like its time to find a new circle. Try to spend time with others who emulate the person you want to be and the energy you want to attract. It will start rubbing off on you and you will stop absorbing the negative mindset of those who just want to wallow in their own misery.
Use your passions to create win-win opportunities for others
There is nothing better than creating win win scenarios. If you are creating a business doing something you love, you are benefiting others by creating something with high value. You may also employ someone, who will be benefiting from a salary.
At the end of the day, when you do something you are passionate about, you are vibrating at a higher frequency. You are attract like minded people, who not only enjoy what you are giving out to the world, but enjoy the energy you are bringing to the table. An abundance mindset is attractive. You will never scare someone away with clinginess or desperation by being authentic, abundant to yourself.
Last but not least, trust the process
The universe has your back. You may not be able to connect all the dots right now, but looking back, your life events will create a whole picture. Although we hit bumps along our long journey, trust the process. When certain things don’t work out, just know that something better lies ahead. You may have a few more lessons to learn.
Anxiety and stress will just weigh you down and block your energy from your current abundance. When you trust the process, you can live in the present.
